Ein anderer Mandant wurde mit folgendem Schreiben
aufgefordert, seine Kontodaten mitzuteilen. Eine Nachfrage bei der „richtigen“ WIPO ergab, dass dieses Schreiben nicht von dieser stammte, wie nachfolgender Auszug aus dem Schreiben der „richtigen“ WIPO zeigt:
„Dear Madrid System User,
Thank you for contacting us.Thank you for bringing the attached document to our attention. Please disregard it. It is not from WIPO.
We are aware that private companies are sending letters to holders of national/international trademark registrations and their representatives, inviting them to pay fees to record their trademark in business databases, to renew them or to carry out other transactions.
Some of these companies use a logo, name or address similar to WIPO’s, potentially misleading the public about the source of these documents.We also update our Madrid System webpage dedicated to warnings against requests for payments with samples of misleading bills. Here you may find the document you have received or a similar version.
We value the involvement of the trademark community on this important issue and would like to thank you again for drawing this specific case to our attention.
